Naming conventions for shared Dashboards in RE

Hello friends,


To organize shared dashboards in RE until some features are added that we asked for in the idea bank, I came up with these convetions that I wanted to share with you. Please share your ideas or naming convetions you already have set-up for dashboards.


For shared dashboard.....


If it is a template created by DBA, it should be named as - TEMPLATE - Dashboard Description - Initials of creator and year when it was created/updated

Otherwise, Dashboard Description - Initials of creator and year it was created/updated

  • At our org, I am the only one who creates Dashboards, and I share them with everyone else. So if our Events person needs an Events Dashboard, I create it and share it to them. That puts me in charge of maintaining it, and I just have them re-link whenever I make any significant changes. Part of this is because the other users at my org aren't as fluent in the database to understand the correct gift types, queries, etc. to choose for custom reporting. Part of it is because I segment my Dashboards to limit how many panels need refreshing all the time. So, I simply name our Dashboards according to the job function they serve: Events Dashboard, Financials Dashboard, Solicitors Dashboard, etc.
