Export not recognizing filters of query

Options
I have a simple constituent query of current organizations that also includes "one of" 5 different possible relationships, with the individuals'  "To Date" being blank.  My export is pulling individuals who have been end-dated, so I'm not getting accurate/current individuals.

  • Is the Query showing the correct results?  An Export based on a Query should show data only for the records found by that Query.  So if your Query Results are correct (as far as what constituents are returned as fitting the criteria) then your Export shouldn't be showing any records not appearing in the Query.  Export could exclude additional records, depending on the various options on the General Tab (head of household processing, include options).  But Export should not include any records not also included in the underlying Query.

Assuming your Query is also returning records you don't want, could it be that one record has 2 of the 5 relationship types with one being end-dated but the other not?
  • As you're using a constituent query (and I assume a constituent export also), it could be that you have all the correct constituents on the export but that it's simply displaying a different relationship to the one you're interested in, much the same as the issue with exporting proposals.

That's the weird thing----the query is right!  And I can just run the query, export it to excel, and use a pivot table to get the format I need.  But Export should be doing it for me! Something is buried somewhere that I need to find.

Thanks for the suggestions----I appreciate it.

I've wondered about that.  I'm using constituent for both, so I pull our constituents (churches), and then I'm looking at certain staff members within the churches, which should probably be a relationship query.

  • Odd.  I would start with a fresh Export, including Constituent Name as the only Output field.  See if you get the right records there, then slowly build the Export until you find the Field that is causing the problem.  If it's a Field that's causing the problem...
  • On the assumption that you're currently exporting one relationship per constituent, you might try increasing the number of relationships - I know they'll come out horizontally which doesn't make them easy to read/filter, but you might find that actually all of the constituents on the export have at least one relationship that meets the criteria, even if it's not the first one exported.

I'll try that again.  Thanks for all the help!

Good thought!  I'll try that.  A fun Friday afternoon project!
