Hello everyone,

We want to rebuild groups (donor versus non-donor) for our EOY campaign.

eg

There are two versions of an email, based on whether or not a constituent donated from the last email in that campaign or not.

Does anyone have any insight on how to do this?

Hi Sarah,

You can definitely do this. This is how we have it set up to split our entire housefile. It seems you are looking to base this off your last e-mail campaign, so you would need to add another clause to the query for your last campaign.

We have two queries named:

Donor Status equal to Donor

Donor Status equal to Non-Donor

Donor Status equal to Donor query logic:

(System Donor Status equals Donor

OR System Donor Status equals Unknown

OR System Donor Status equals Indirect Donor)

Donor Status equal to Non-Donor query logic:

System Donor Status equals Non-Donor

I figured this out a long time ago and that is why Donor Status equal to Donor query is written that way. Luminate has a lot of System Donor Status', so you have to account for all of them or some constituents will receive both e-mails.

From those queries, we created groups.

Donor Status equal to Donor

Donor Status equal to Non-Donor

You can then use those groups as suppression groups to make sure the constituents are receiving the correct version of the e-mail you are sending.

Hi Sarah,

If you're looking for just donors vs. non-donors I would go with the query already suggested.

If you want to segement to only catch people who have donated to a specific campaign, you can set up the campaign so all donors are placed into a group. This is set on step 3 of creating the campagin. This will catch donors as soon as they make a donation to any form of the campaign.

Then you can place that group in either your Target or Do Not Email lists for your message as needed.
