Segmenting users based on time they've been inactive.

Options

For the past year or so I've been segmenting users that have been on the system for a year or more that haven't taken any sort of action, from opening emails to making a gift online. I'm trying to expand this to segment users that have been inactive between 13-24 months and 25+ months.

Here is the query and engagement factors I'm currently using.

I have the interactions set at 720 days because I don't want actions more than 2 years ago to count now. What would I need to do to set these up for 25+ months. Is it just a case of creating more engagement factors and setting longer interacation days beyond 720? I realise these aren't retroactive so work arounds would also be useful. Thanks everyone.

    Hi David,

You're exactly right. You just have to setup another task to populate another Engagement Factor. As far as I'm aware, you are still limited to 10 EFs so you definitely have to be careful about how you use them. Especially if you use them in any way in a data sync. Unfortunately there's not realy a work-around other than running a lot of reports and generating the info manually. You basically have to run a details report for every email and then put everyone who has opened an email into a group and then run a query that says, "show me everyone not in Group X."

    Hope this helps!

Just to clarify this old post: Engagement Factors ARE retroactive, so they become immediately useful in identifying.  It's important to note that Email response data is only kept for 12 months, so any Engagement Factor attempting to count Email-related interactions beyond 365 days will obtain the same result as 365 days.
