Importing an excel file to create a new batch

Options
Hello,

Is there a way to import an excel sheet into RE in the Batch module. Sometimes we have hundreds of donations for one day. Entering them in one by one is a lot of work. Looking for a faster way to populate a new batch.

Thanks in advance.

Does your excel sheet have constituent ID's?   If so, a couple of options come to mind.

If gifts don't have to be in a 'batch' you could do an import of the gifts directly to the constituent records.  You could create your own report after importing that would be similar to a batch report using query.

With IDs, you could create a query (Const ID one of and copy and paste in list from excel) to pull in the records.  You would still have to enter other fields but sometimes you can set a lot of the fields to a default value which makes it easier.

I'm not aware of any other way to pull in a large group from excel.  Maybe someone else has another work around for you.
  • Yes it needs to be in a batch. Thanks a lot. I will try your second solution. Appreciate it.

Here's link to KB on how to do the paste in 'one of' if you haven't done it before.https://kb.blackbaud.com/articles/Article/41666

  • There are third party tools (import-o-matic being one of them) that can do this but Basic RE does not allow import to batch.
