Cash Flow by fund category

I'm lookinig for a way to break down the cash flow report (projections for recurring gifts in F17) into fund categories of restricted and unrestricted.  Any ideas?  I'm a newbie and just converted to RE7 in July 2016.

I think you'll have to do two reports in order to use the canned report and get this broken down by the categories.  Rather than select the funds, I would create a Gift query with the only criteria being "Fund Category = <ask>".  That way, you can link the query to the report and you can run it once for the Fund Category of "Restricted" and then a second time for the Fund Category of "Unrestricted".

  • I totally agree: you want to do this by putting a category or attribute or something on each fund record so that you can then run this report by fund. This also allows you to run the report over and over again with different date ranges knowing that all the funds will be counted the same way each time.

We actually do this a lot.  Our funds each have about 4 different cateogories (attributes) for slicing and dicing our data however we want.  One neat trick: if you create a gift query which lists each gift amount with each fund category you can then create a pivot report that has all the fund categories and amounts broken out in one nice little spreadsheet.
