Any orgs out there using the Benevon Model?

Options
I’m looking to connect and share ideas with other Raiser’s Edge customers whose development program uses the Benevon fundraising model.

I’ve used RE for a while, and when I first joined my organization I struggled to reconcile what I considered best practices with some of the more unique reporting needs of the Benevon Model. Benevon does not use a lot of financial metrics and it’s very non-fundraising event heavy. Most of the canned reports and dashboards don’t fit the model out of the box, but I’ve fine-tuned some of them to work quiet well.

So, any Benevon/RE users out there?

Hi Sarah. I moved your post to our Member-to-Member networking board. Hopefully this will help you connect with other Benevon RE users. Good luck!
  • Sarah, we attended the Benevon 101 workshop in April and just launched our first Discovery Tours (POE) this week.  I joined the forum specifically because I was looking for info on how organizations using the Benevon model track everything in RE -- so imaginie how happy I was to see your post!  Would love to learn more from you....

    Hi, Sarah.

I worked for an organization that did use Benevon albeit briefly. It was not easy to sync the info nor did it seem to be used once we were able to incorporate. Shortly after I joined the ED decided not to continue w/Benevon (same person who authorized usage the year prior) and then we no longer had to manage the disparage info.

  • Natalie,

Yeah - it's presented some struggles. Thanks for validating my concerns :)

    Coleen,

Happy to connect with you. Are you using the Events Module to track your POEs? I've found that to be lifesave. I rely heavily on it and using the Solictor field to track Ambassadors.

    Hi Sarah,

any update on your Bevevon/RE use? We're just getting started on Benevon, so I'm curious about your progress and what your experience has been like. In addition to RE, we also have LO TeamRaiser.

    Thanks,

    SheryAnne

Sarah, we don't even have the Events module! We're assigning an attribute code to anyone who attends a POE.

Hi, Holly. How can I connect with that Member-to-Member networking board for more information in utilizing RE with the Benevon model? Can't seem to find it....

    thank you!

Just realized this IS the member-to-member networking section. Please ignore my aging brain! Have a nice day.

  • Good morning, Mary. My answer is YES! We launched Benevon about a year-and-a-half ago, and are long-time RE users. Just attended 201, and met another woman in the same boat, as well. Hoping to connect with her within the next week or so. I believe they use the RE events module for tracking POEs, which we don't have. Do you?

Hi, Coleen! Yes, we do have the Events Module in RE and I believe it will help us with tracking the POE's as well. My moves management tasks will be tracked in Actions, I suppose, and titles such as "Ambassador", "Table Captain", etc. will probably be tracked in Relationships under Assigned Solicitors. The only issue I have with all of this is that most likley I'll be running several different reports each time, just to get to the next step. I don't quite feel any "flow" that would take place....Suggestions?
  • Uggghhh -- we feel the same! So hard to extract what we need.  However... we just returned from 201, where I met someone who wants to discuss these issues, too. Let me reach out to her -- I'm thinking it might be useful for the three of us to set up a conference call to share practices and tips for success. Would you be up for that?

Hi, Coleen! I'll be up for a conference call anytime - I don't think I need to wait for our training afterall. In fact, it might help to have a few reporting scenarios under my belt before attending.

  • Hey, Mary -- I'll reach out and see when we might be able to huddle together. However -- I am out this Friday and all of next week, so it probably won't be until mid-October.  Okay by you? And any days/dates that will NOT work for you?
  • Hi! Okay, short window....but I'm available Oct. 11-14, and then Monday the 17th. Then it's off to DC for training. surprise
  • Realizing this thread is a dated, I'm hoping that someone has discovered some 'best practices' for tracking Benevon interactions in RE.  I'm new to the organization but am familiar with RE having managed RE database at two different organizations from 2000-2011.

Our org has RE, but purchased Bloomerang about a year ago to track our Benevon interactions.  In that year we've only added ~80 records.  RE is our primary CRM with more than 100,000 records.  I'd like to recommend letting go of Bloomerang, if I can figure out how to track all that I need in RE.  We do not have the Events module and I'm leaning toward the use of Actions and the Action Attributes.

    Many Thanks!

    Hi Pamela,

Our big annual fundraiser is a Benevon event and we've been doing it for about 15 years.  We've only been using the RE Events module to manage it for the past 3 years, but I'd be happy to talk to you about how we use it in conjunction with Online Express.  We've gotten it down to a pretty standard process that we're pretty happy with overall.  Just PM me if you'd like to chat.
