Community Foundation Endowment and Donors

I have a question about how to credit a donor for a donation made to an endowment with the Community Foundation. If I put this "donation" into Raiser's Edge, it will skew our numbers. Is there a good way of putting this into RE? The only other way I can think of is by using the Receipt function, showing that they gave X amount of dollars and a note of what it was for. Any help would be appreciated.

    If I'm understanding your post...Is the community foundation a 501(c)(3)?  If so, it's their responsibility to receipt the donor.  You would only want to do a thank you acknowledging they have made a gift to the endowment.  (Unless you have arrangements with the foundation in some way that you are to issue receipts.)


    If you want to record in RE for your info, my suggestion would be a fund 'Endowment with Community Foundation.'  This would not be posted to your accounting and could be reported on specifically for that fund, but excluded from other reports.
