Volunteer match gift

Options
We have a donor who volunteered a number of hours and his organization matched his hours for dollars. The organization sent in a check, so the organization will receive the hard credit. Would it be appropriate to soft credit the individual donor?

While some orgs would, we would not SC the volunteer for the gift.  Our thinking - not his money, would not include for giving totals.  We would note on record and possibly even include volunteers name with the company name for recognition listings if appropriate.  I think you will need to determine a policy for your org as a case can be made for both sides.

    Just one opinion..

You could add a gift in kind or gift type "other" for the volunteer and set up a matching gift for the employer. That way when you run reports you can be clearer in what you're asking for and getting, hopefully.
