Donor Category Report/Analytical Reports (how to capture Primary addressee?)

Options
Hi all... Creating a master Donor Category Report for 2015 donors by amount. I am listing soft credited donors. My problem (and I am new to this) is that I cannot seem to figure out how to get spouses/partners listed correctly. I suspect I am using the Soft Credit information incorrectly. For example, I am getting:

Stephen Smith (instead of Steven and Susan Smith  -  Susan is soft-credited)

Also, I need the combined donor value for spouses/partners, not Stephen Smith, $1,000, and also Susan Smith, $500. I want "Stephen and Susan Smith, $1,500".

What am I doing wrong? I am using date of "last calendar year" to capture all gifts, not a specific query. Many thanks.

In the report go to the Format tab and change the name format to get the primary addressee. If all of your spouses have been properly soft credited  you would just soft credit the gifts to the donor for the report.

If you go to the last tab of the Donor Category Report (Format), on the left hand side it says Name formats, go to Constituents, Individual. Then you can choose which format from the Constituents adressee tab gets pulled. The combined value you should get if you softcredit the same person for both gifts. Hope this helps.

  • Thank you... I had the "Use Individual" selection chosen, which did not allow me to see the options below! Thanks for the guidance.
