Can I attribute my edits from one Query list to another Query list?

Options
Hello,

This is the issue I'm having with my query lists: I pull the list, my boss gives me her own edits by hand, because our data is not completely clean yet and she knows who to remove from the list I pulled. Then, I later learn that I have to pull the list slightly differently, leaving me with the task of going through her old edits, seeing who is on the newest query list that my boss had struck out from the old list, and deleting it by hand. Is there a way for RE to remember who was deleted, so I don't have to go through the arduous task of deleting them every time I pull a new list?

Best,

  • if they should always be excluded, you could assign a solicitation code (or in this case a non-solicitation code). and RE will always exclude those individuals from all queries/lists as long as you use that in your criteria.
  • When you say Query List, do you mean a list pulled from a query or an actual Query List?

If the former, let me explain (if the latter, this answer won't help you)...

Let's say you have a query based on a set of criteria.  Then it's reviewed by whomever and they want to remove 6 names and add 4 others.  Not helpful when you repull the query as the deletions happened outside of the query process.

Unless you pull the original query into a Query List.  Once you've done that, you can add or delete constituents to your heart's content.  The Query List you have now acts just like a regular query in that you can pull it into reports/exports etc.  And you can pull a log as to what and when the changes to the list were made as well as by whom (so if you give access to others to tweak on their own, you can see the audit trail, as it were).

The one downside is that this query is a static query, not dynamic.

I have found the Query List funcationality to be a lifesaver when it comes to invitation lists, because you know the list is never as simple as the results from a query!

    Hope this helps!
