RE Address Finder Results

I would like to see which addresses were changed when I did the Address Finder last week... how do I find that information?

  • I think the only way you can tell is by writing a Query using Address Date Last Changed and Last Changed By fields.  When I used AddressFinder, I created a separate RE Username of "Address Update" and signed in under that User to do the AddressFinder process, which then allowed me to see which records I had actually changed versus those that AddressFinder had changed.  Remember, of course, that as soon as another User touches one of these Addresses, it will drop out of your Query Results.  I'm not sure there's any other answer, unless AddressFinder adds something else to the records for this purpose in the past several years since I've used it.

Like Jen's suggestion, this won't help you after the fact, but you can set Address Finder to create a static output query.  Similarly, you can use the Info Source or the Date From if you changed either of those fields when you ran the process.

  • Opps...Christine mentioned Static Query and I realized that when I said as soon as someone else changes a record it will drop out of your Query, I was thinking Dynamic Query (because that's what I use, almost exclusively).  If you built a Query today looking for records changed last week, you'd probably get most of them still, and if you make it a Static Query it should stay until/unless you refresh the Query.

You can use the Adress Attribute created by the Address Update process (if you're using the Data Health Center to update). After I run address update, I run a query to identify addresses that were updated, but we had marked not to send mail to (aka, once lost, but now found). The RE Address adds an Attribute with the Category: "AddressAccelerator Footnotes" and then adds a Description - in this case, I look for "Forwardable Move", and it conveniently provides the date of the update to the Attribute, so you can tell when it was updated.  I also query on Moved Out of Country, and no forwardable.

Thank you all for your help!  Unfortunately, when the Address Finder took place, RE marked the "Date From" field (under "Valid Dates") for that particular date, for every one of our constituents.  So when I queried Address Date Last Changed, I got a list of all my constituents!   Rats.

Well, thank you all for your help - I will try do get better prepared (with your helpful tips) ahead of time next time I do Address Finder.
