Self Service Center - is it only for recurring gifts?

Options
We presently have LO as our event managment tool, but not our CRM.  In order to keep our information updated and engage our constituents in a robust manner, our constituents want the ability to change their information (address, email, phone, etc.) on their Participation Center in TR or perhaps the Self Service Center.

Is this possible?

  • Hey Jennifer! The Gift Service Center is essentially a "tab" within the broader Luminate Constituent Profile interface. So within this profile page, constituents can update this sort of information even if they do not have a recurring gift.

It's common to link to this page within PageWrappers or email stationery headers/footers. The benefit of the latter is that you can use the autologin parameter to conveniently connect people to this profile page. When adding Links through the WYSIWYG you can find it under the "User Registration" section.

  • Hi Jennifer -

Since you mentioned CRM, I'll assume there is a datasync in place between Luminate Online and your database of record. If there are fields "exposed" by ConsProfileUser (the native implementation Chris highlights) that you don't want users to change, you can also use a survey and hide it behind a login. To implement, configure your survey with the Constituent Registration Question type (CRI), select the fields you want to manipulate, and on the last step of adding the CRI there are three "login" options presented:
    • Do not prompt constituents to log in
    • Prompt constituents to log in with a link directly to the Login page
    • Prompt constituents to log in with a link to the Login pop-up <-- I like this one best.
And there you have it. To get people to use it, I would recommend updating your email header or footer with an "update my information" link.

At World Wildlife Fund, they expanded the functionality of "change my information" to also include infomation about email subscriptions, action alerts and donations.

The American Lung Association and The Nature Conservancy also have these more robust "portals" but they truly don't have to be that complicated, I promise.
