Edit a "Read Only" Gift

Does anyone know a way to edit a gift in Raiser's Edge that is marked as "read only"? I need to edit the appeal on some of the gift records and do not wish to delete and re-enter these gift records. HELP!

    Read-only as in it's marked as Posted?  You can do an adjustment and change the appeal code there.

    Is your pop up message it's "Read Only"?  I've never seen that with a gift record.  What version of RE are you using?  Are you opening gift from gift tab on a constituent record? 


    Users can prevent other users from changing reports, queries etc.  Haven't heard of it with a gift.  As Josh said you should be able to do adjustment.

    Posted Status, an Adjustment or Write Off, or a Split Gift can all result in grayed out fields on a Gift Record.  If that's what you're seeing (grayed out fields on a Gift Record), I'd check for the Post Status (Misc Tab) as Josh mentioned, an Adjustment Tab (which will appear if there is already an Adjustment), or the Split Gift Tab.  If it's a Pledge, check for a Write Off under the Gift Menu.  If it's a pop-up, as JoAnn mentioned, it could be an Annotation or a Business Rule...but neither one should prevent you from editing any fields on a Gift Record.


    A similar question was just asked this morning, and it turned out to be related to a UK Gift Aid...but I don't think that applies to you (just in case, I thought I'd mention it).

    The "DUH question" being, are you a Supervisor, and if not, have you been given Add and Delete rights but not Edit rights to gift records?


    I have to ask because even after I was made Database Manager, our IT didn't want to share Supervisor rights at first until I made the case for more optimal data maintenance.
