How to import website gifts into RE

Options
I'm looking for the best software out there to import website gitfs into RE via constituent ID. I know about Import O matic and NetCommunity but can anymone recommend something else that they are using thats not so exspensive. Thank you.

  • ImporOmatic is really an invaluable tool! We use it for importing gifts from Sphere, Benevity, Truist, GiveDirect, various United Way, etc. Basically, if we can get a spreadsheet with donor info, we can import it into RE. You can select to have the gifts saved to a batch and you can create output queries to check the updates to existing records or the newly created records. It saves so much time. And the duplicate record matching is great. You can weigh match criteria so that it chooses the right record.  We also use IOM for importing NCOA updates and appeal files from our mail house.  I actually don't know what we pay for it and if it's pricey or not. But I do know that we could not function efficiently without it.
  • If you have a ConstID and not the budget for something like Import-o-Matic, you can set up a standing Import directly from RE.

My recommendation is to create a few dummy constituent records in RE to test with.  Create a file for those dummy constituents that is identical to one that you have to Import.  Look up the Import Fieldnames from the Import Function and create a header (in Excel or whatever format your data will be in).  Depending on what that format is, you can likely just copy-and-paste it into the source data each time you do an Import.

Test your Import with the dummy records until you get it working the way you want it.  Then document the heck out of the process.

I do this a lot for NCOA screenings, mailing lists to go in as Appeals, etc.  I use Microsoft Access, which generates a txt file for the Import, with the appropriately labeled data fields.  The investment of time in setting up the process isn't insignificant, but it works smoothly after that.
  • Good morning:

We are hosted by Blackbaud and I was told that IOM has several
problems working with the hosted environment. Are you hosted?
    Thanks
