Deliverability Issues with Governors - CA and IL

Options
My state organizations have important bills before their respective Governors, and people are having issues contacting them.

California - says 99% failing. As ts one of our biggest states, this is a severe problem. Anyone else experiencing this?

Illinois - Says Rauner's form needs more info, but when you go to that page, this is what you see. Anyone else experiencing this?

  • Hi Marissa -

Thanks for reaching out about this! The very first thing you should be doing is opening support cases about this. The case will get assigned to our Advocacy support lead who can troubleshoot this to see if there is anything that can be done on the support side here. Please open cases if you haven't done so already.

According to the list we maintain of targets California & Illinois are not marked as “untrainable” meaning that Luminate Online cannot deliver to the webforms because of specific barriers in place to prevent delivery by software like Luminate Online.

    Thanks!

    2. I am slightly confused by this:

According to the list we maintain of targets California & Illinois are not marked as “untrainable” meaning that Luminate Online cannot deliver to the webforms because of specific barriers in place to prevent delivery by software like Luminate Online.

Do you mean these states *are* trainable?

Also - this link that you provided states it has not been updated in over a year -

  • Hi Marissa -

I'm sorry I didn't explain that well the first try...

A small number of webforms are “untrainable” meaning that Luminate Online cannot deliver to the webforms because of specific barriers in place to prevent delivery by software like Luminate Online. That is a master list so that clients can see which targets we can connect to and which ones are "untrainable". A small number of targets are "untrainable". If you are seeing issues with a target that is not marked as untrainable the best thing to do is open a support ticket so they can troubleshoot and see if there is an issue with connecting to that target.

If you still have further questions or concerns you can also reach out to your Client Success Manager.

    Thanks,

    Caroline
  • For what it is worth, it is my guess that CA governor requires "phone" now.
  • Hey Jesse - I sent this to you in an email, but am also posting it here for posterity: our advocacy data analyst on the engineering team noted in the support case that the CA Governor's webform is notoriously sporadic. The advice was to keep retrying and configure the delivery method to rollover to fax if the electronic submission fails (Luminate Advocacy handles this rollover automatically if the electronic delivery fails three times in a row).

As well, some other clients have mentioned in the past that they use the webform problems as a proxy to re-email their advocates to ask them to make phone calls to the office in question. This can be motivational if the office is blocking legitimate constituent communications. In the case of the CA Governor, it seems more like a hardware or bandwidth issue, but if the goal is to get constituents to affect the outcome of the vote or to ask the Governor not to sign the bill, phone calls can help here when it's an urgent deadline.

Adding additional channels (social - twitter, facebook) can also amplify the message.
