Soft Credits - Information Beyond Gift Amount

Options
Hello everyone,

Once upon a time I was asked to export a list of people who were soft credited under certain gift records (a check that comes every month), in addition to that I was asked to take that query a step further and grab the recipient's mailing information (we plan to do a mailing). I attempted to do all that again today but I just cannot figure out how I create this certain export a long time ago.

Would anyone be able to share their knowledge on how I should approach this type of query? I might be mistaken but I remember merging two queries.

Thank you very much,

Greg

  • You could use your list of people in Mail/ Quick letters and choose the Fields to exports there. Also you can exclude

Solicit Codes. I always include the Constituent IDs in the export.

  • To grab your soft credit recipients mailing info - As Cathleen said, I always include the Constit ID's in my export. My lazy way to do it is then just cut n' paste those ID's into a query to grab those individuals and output their desired mailing info.

In RE there's often several ways to pull info.  I would create a query capturing the SC donors.  Then take that query to Mail > Quick Letters if that had all the fields I needed.  My first inclination though would be to take that query to Export (output address info here) and and create my letter there using a BB Simple Word Merge.  Have used that function frequently and works well for my needs.

I don't know any reason if I'm understanding your question for why you would need two queries or have to merge them.
  • Thank you everyone for your replies I feel like I am on the right track.

So I created a constituent query and punched in the Constituent ID and saved that query.

I went into Quick Letters>New and pulled the same query. But my export is only grabbing the organization that contains the soft credit records, and not the soft credit recipient themsevles.

Is your query pulling the organization or the SC recipient?  Query needs to pull SC - in query go to Tools > Query Options > Gift Processing and select to credit gifts to SC recipients (second option).  This should pull SC constituent records in your query.
  • Hi Joann,

Yes, I have that currently set in the Tools option. I'm still only getting 1 record when trying to export through Quick Letters. Is there anything else I should include in the query before I open it in the Quick Letters option again?

So query pull the records you need...

I just created a query and pulled it into quick letters - got multiple letters.  May be something in your filters, address option settings, is org one set to just send to org?  perhaps?

I don't have many quick letters to use because as I said I tend to use Export.

Not sure what else to check...
  • I found out why it was not working. I was using a constituent query and not a gift query. I see everyone in my list now!

    Thank you everyone.
