Re: eCommerce Tracking

Options
Hi All,

Have had eCommerce Tracking (Google Analytics) working on my NetCommunity forms for a while now, but it has seemingly stopped all of a sudden around about April 12. Revenue & conversion stats are completely flat (thought the odd one seems to get tracked) even though we are still receiving plenty of donations.
  1. Does anybody know of any recent changes to NetCommunity that could throw the eCommerce/Goal Tracking out?
  2. Is there a resource out there that details setting this stuff up in Analytics?
I am not hugely talented with Analytics so am reaching out for some help! Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards,

Cas

  • Hello Cas, I'm not aware of any changes to NC that could have messed up your Analytics, but I'm happy to explain how to set it up manually.

Navigate to your Google Analytics console, and then Admin > .js Tracking Info > Tracking Code

Copy your Tracking code, which is just a jQuery snippet. (See example)

Select that code and add it to an unformatted text part within your NetCommunity template. I think it's obvious, but do not add the code manually to each page, you should be using a global template to house pages which then house parts.

Another note is to set up a property specifically for NetCommunity. By default, we track our main website with two additional properties for our ticketing site and NetCommunity. Manual implementations of the tracking code will produce more accurate results, this is a fact.

Let me know if you have any issues with implementation. Event / action tracking should also be pretty easy to setup.

  • Thanks for this. This actual side of things seems to be working okay. For whatever reason the ecommerce tracking has ceased working. I have just found that the unformatted part that contains the ecommerce tracking is not actually injecting the code into the site, despite being set up on all the relevent pages (see screenshot)...Would you have any idea why this would be happening?

  • It may need to be wrapped in noConflict.
  • Is that a tag?

I actually found a workaround after my last post... For whatever reason my original unformatted part ceases to stop working, I can't work out why for the life of me - nothing has changed as far as I can see.

I just planted the ecommerce code into another unformatted part in the footer and my revenue started to show again. Weird!

Thanks for your help with this :)
