VP reporting

Options

Hello, I'm a new VP with access to NXT, and I'd like to set up some standard reports I can monitor to determine the health of my fundraising program. Are there resources that I can access to get myself going? Is there a standard toolkit I can start with?

@Michele Boillotat Welcome to the BB Community forums and your new position.

Database view has a number of canned reports. I think you will find more flexibility and what you are looking for with web view.

Go to Fundraising > Reporting (dropdown menu when you click triangle). Overview will show a list of reports. You can set the filters to different funds, dates, etc. for each dashboard.

At top right you can save the view/filters you set with a new name and also schedule an email to receive the report, print report or export it.

In addition to what @JoAnn Strommen has mentioned, I'll suggest that you reach out to your Customer Success Manager. They are a VERY important part of your relationship with Blackbaud and can help get you oriented to all the resources available to you.

Additionally, Blackbaud University offers many courses including e-learning courses and you might look into:
Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT: Fundamentals: Dashboards | eLearning
    COURSE OVERVIEW

When it comes to your data, seeing is believing.

In this course, address common reporting needs with standard dashboards and share them across your organization. Compare your organization’s fundraising with similar organizations, with benchmarking.

Note: This course is self-paced. Actual completion time may vary from the estimate indicated.

    LEARNING OBJECTIVES

    • Explore standard dashboards
    • Share dashboards with internal and external stakeholders
    • Create custom dashboards

Finally, it is important to know that most of the built in reporting in web-view does not take soft credits into account. So a donor who typically gives via their credit card but suddenly switches to giving via a donor advised fund (and receives a soft credit for that DAF gift) will show up as a LYBUNT even though they are actually a current donor. I've found the built in reports in webview do NOT give me a truly accurate understanding of the health of my database and so I choose to still do my reporting through database view.

  • @Michele Boillotat If the NXT canned reports are not what you need, or if you need to include data from other systems (e.g. enrollment, finance, programs), you may want to explore implementing a data warehouse. Data Moose is a Blackbaud partner offering a Data as a Service using the SKY API. We automatically pull RE data into a reporting server that can be hooked up to Power BI, Tableau, even Excel. Feel free to DM me for more information.

I am able to provide quite a few reports / information to my users using Fundraising > reporting or Lists. Lists have quite a bit of flexibility. It's not as flexible as the Database View / Query but it's being enhanced on a regular basis.

List will allow you to pull on various fields and display many of the fields you would want to see.
