How do I create a new discount for a TeamRaiser Participation type?

Options

If you do not have a previously configured discount that you would like to use with a participation type, you can configure a new one as follows:

 

1. Create and save a Participation Type for your TeamRaiser.

 

2. On the Registration page for your TeamRaiser, click the Edit icon beside the name of your Participation Type. The page where you configured the Participation Type will re-open and you will now have a Discounts section beneath the section on Fundraising Features.

 

3. Click the Manage Discount button at the right of the page to open the screen where you can Select Discounts.

 

4. Click Create a new discount at the left of the page.

 

5. Provide a Name and Description for the discount as follows:

a) Enter a Name for the new discount. The name will be used by administrators to identify the discount but will not be visible to constituents.

b) Enter a Description of the discount. This description can provide additional information about the purpose of the discount.

c) Select a Security Category for the discount from the drop-down menu provided. The security category determines which administrators can view or modify the discount.

 

6. Click Next.

 

7. Configure the Amount of the discount and how it will be applied by making choices for the following:

a) Select the appropriate radio button to choose whether the discount should be applied as a Percentage of the total transaction or as a Fixed amount.

b) Enter the amount of the discount. The amount can contain a decimal point but should not contain currency or percentage symbols. (For example, a value of 10.25 would be an acceptable entry as either a percentage or a fixed amount.)

c) Choose whether the discount should be applied to shipping charges as well as to the actual donation or purchase.

Note: Although shipping charges are not relevant for a Participation Type,

this discount, once configured, will also become available for use in other

applications that may involve shipping charges.

 

8. Click Next.

 

9. Configure the following additional discount Option:

a) If you would like to limit the total number of discounts available to constituents, place a check mark in the box provided and enter the appropriate number.

 

10. Click Next.

 

11. Determine who will be Eligible for this discount by making the following decisions:

a) If you would like to require that the constituent use a code to redeem the discount, enter a Discount Code. The code must be a unique value. Do not re-use old codes, even if the discount associated with an earlier code has been deleted. If no code is entered, none will be required.

Important: If a constituent uses a code, this will override any other discounts available for an item.

b) Select all Groups that will be eligible for this discount. Select groups by opening the group folders and placing a check mark beside each group that you would like to make eligible. (Conversely, you can remove groups that you have previously selected by removing the checkmark.)

**IMPORTANT: If no groups are selected, the discount will be available to all site visitors.

 

12. Click Next.

 

13. Select optional activation and expiration dates and Approve the discount as follows:

a) Choose an activation date for the discount by placing a check in the box labeled ‘Has activation date’ and then selecting the date from the drop-down menu. This step is optional.

b) Choose an expiration date for the discount by placing a check in the corresponding box labeled ‘Has expiration date’ and then selecting the date from the drop-down menu. This step is also optional.

c) Click Approve if you are ready to do so at this time. If approved, the discount will automatically become available to your constituents during the activation/expiration period that you have set in the preceding steps. If you have not chosen an activation date, the discount will become active immediately upon approval.

 

14. Click Finish to return to the Select Discount page.

 

15. Highlight your new discount in the box at the left of the page.

 

16. Click Add to move the selection to the box on the right.

 

17. Click Finish to return to the screen for configuring the participation type.
