We are looking for an outgoing, motivated Accountant to join the organization’s finance team. The Accountant will be responsible for a broad range of transactional, reconciliation and other accounting activities. Functions include AP, credit card reconciliations, and expense report processing. The successful candidate will have a "roll-up-the-sleeves" attitude, be able to multi-task, and ready to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Job Description

SUMMARY OBJECTIVE

The mission of Jews for Jesus is “to make the Messiahship of Jesus an unavoidable issue to our Jewish people worldwide.” The Staff Accountant is an integral part of the Finance Department, and reports to the Assistant Director of Finance. The Finance Department is responsible for handling all monies received via mail or internet, paying all invoices and reimbursements, and preparing payroll for processing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Generate daily income reports
  • Process all accounts payables
  • Process credit cards via Concur
  • Record health plan activities
  • Process monthly charitable gift annuity distributions
  • Prepare monthly benefit statements
  • Track fixed asset acquisitions
  • Prepare and reconcile monthly payments to international entities
  • Reconcile bank statements
  • Assist in month-end close including preparing journal entries, monthly accruals, and reconciling general ledger accounts
  • Assist with the preparation of annual financial audits
  • Prepare annual 1099’s
  • Performs other duties & responsibilities as required or assigned by supervisor

  • File documents in designated folders

TRAVEL
  • No travel required for this position
REQUIRED EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 2+ years’ experience in accounting or related field
  • Strong Excel and MS Office skills; familiarity with Blackbaud and Concur a plus
  • Ability to handle change in a fast-paced growing company, along with “wearing multiple hats”
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to meet assigned deadlines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service focus

The ideal candidate would be local to the San Francisco Bay Area.
