How to prevent title changes from online express donations

Options

I'm not entirely sure how to explain what I'm looking for, or if there is a fix for it.. here is my issue:

Constituent Record: Mr. John Smith
Spouse: Mrs. Mary Smith
Primary Addressee: Mr. & Mrs. John Smith
Primary Salutation: Mr. & Mrs. Smith

Let's say Mary makes an online donation via the OEX.. Enters it as: Mrs. Mary Smith. I start processing a batch, it matches up via the address but RE wants to update the record to make Mary the primary instead of the spouse. I usually hit no for the update, but it never actually ignores it, or there's a title change I don't see. The when processing the batch, the acknowledgements read: Mrs. & Mrs. Mary Smith or Mr. & Mrs. & Mrs. Mary Smith. I'll go into the record and now Mary is listed as both the primary AND the spouse.

other variations I've seen pop up are when the donor enters Mary & John for the first name, even though we've made an edit to our website to only include one name on donation. It says Mr. Mary & John etc etc you get the picture.

It's pretty tedious to have to edit multiple names EVERY time I am processing batches of online donations. Is there an easier or more sure way to prevent this from happening? Not sure if I'm missing an easy fix or if this is kind of just how it is.

@Alicia Valtierra - There is an addition step you need to take. I recommend processing gifts from OLX through Bulk Processing. Within the pop-up window for Bulk Processing you want to go to the second tab, at the bottom under “Transaction Profile Data” choose “Reject Profile Information”. You will have to repeat this step every time you download gifts from OLX into RE, but it will solve your problem by keeping the changes you made during the review process.

@Alicia Valtierra, are you making sure that the box in the transaction profile data is marked appropriately? You would need to reject profile information when you process, because otherwise it will update the records incorrectly in this situation.

Wow this is exactly what I was looking for. I am almost upset I've been struggling with this for 2 YEARS. But I'll just laugh at myself for not asking sooner. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!
