WHAT'S THIS FEATURE?

Captains of returning teams (regardless if they were originally the captain) can now easily determine who has signed up for the team again and send email to encourage the others to sign up again using the Team's Past Members and Team's Past Members Not Registered for this Event groups in the Contacts area of their Participant Centers.

 

HOW WILL THIS IMPROVE THE USER EXPERIENCE?

Participants and Team Captains can now communicate to their teammates from previous year’s event by accessing their email address in their address book of the participant center. The team now carries over with the team, rather than just the captain.  Currently, when a team gets a new captain, that new captain would not have access to the team roster in their email Address Book. This limits their ability to recruit members back to the team.

 

HOW DOES THIS SUPPORT EVENT STRATEGY?

Now Team Captains, including new ones, have access to the team’s past roster in their address book. Giving Team Captains access to the previous event’s team roster helps them recruit additional team members and ask for donations.

When enabled, two email groups are added to the Team Captain’s Address Book: Team’s Past Members and Team’s Past Members Not Registered for This Event.

 

 

WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?

From a revenue generation standpoint, recruiting past participants is critical to the event’s fundraising success because for most events these people tend to raise more money than new participants to your event.

 

According to the 2011 Convio Peer to Peer Event Fundraising Benchmark Study, “Not only does participant retention help with overall growth of the event; returning participants are also more likely to fundraise and fundraise more than participants who register online for the first time or intermittently every few years. The metrics below reveal that within traditional peer-to-peer fundraising events, participants who return online from year to year with the same user login significantly out-perform participants who are new to the online fundraising tools.”
