How do I move an event gift to a participant?

There has to be a way to take a gift made to the event and move it to a participant (someone accidentally gave to the event and not the individual they intended).  How do I do this?

I think all you need to do is find the transaction in Fundraising > Transactions and then click the 'Add Soft Credit' link on the right. You should be presented with a form that allows you to choose a participant or team to give the donation to.
