Someone in our organization is registered for the Race for the Cure (Susan G. Komen) and she recieved an email from them with the subject line "Forward this to your friends and family."  It was a message soliciting donations and it contained a link directly to her personal page.  She didn't have to create a custom URL or link it herself.  Anyone know how to do this?  See the red text/link below:

  • Hi Tracy - the 'Sample Email to Forward to Friends and Family' is an Autoresponder that is available within the RFC TeamRaiser site.  It is sent out to participants after they register for the event.  Orgs can configure it to go out immediately upon completely registering or a few days after.  The benefit of this autoresponder to make it really easy for participants to forward this email to friends and family to ask for donations without having to login into their Participant Center to send out emails.  And the beauty of this autoresponder is the fact in automatically includes the link to the participant's personal page!

Hope this answers your question and clarifies the purpose of this particular Autoresponder.

    Thanks,

    Deepa

Perfect!  Thanks Deepa!  I don't know why we haven't been using this.  It certainly makes it so much easier to fundraise and donate.

The one downside of this email is that when a participant forwards this "Sample Solicitation to Forward" autoresponder, it's not recorded as a send in the Participant Center, and the send can't be reported on.  When I was a client, I chose to disable that autoresponder for that reason.

That said, if you're going to take advantage of it, you'll want to set it up the way that Komen affiliate did, and include the link back to the participant's page.  You can use the [[S1]] tag to correctly define the px= variable in the link:

    <p>To donate online, <a href="http://www.info-komen.org/site/TR/RacefortheCure/General?px=[[S1:cons_id]]&pg=personal&fr_id=2679">click here</a>.</p>

Great point, thanks Derek.  Maybe that is why it was disabled initially by the person who managed the events before me.  Thank you for the coding, that is really what I was after.

Can you point me to where that can be scheduled?  I see the option to determine the send dates of the Follow Up autoresponders under Event Options > Advanced Event Options > Misc.Options but I don't see anything about the Sample Solicitation message timing.  Thanks!

The Sample Solicitation to Forward Autoresponder cannot be scheduled, it is sent immediately after the Thank You for Registering Autoresponders. The TeamRaiser First-Fourth Follow Up Autoresponders can be scheduled specific number of days after registration has taken place. You can schedule those days in Select event Options >Edit Advanced Options > Define Misc Options. Nancy Palo

Hi Leslie! After reading my friend Nancy Palo's post, looks like I was incorrect when saying the Sample Email to Forward could be adjusted. We did adjust the timing of this autoresponder when I was at the client as I wanted to space it out from the TY for Registering AR, but must have turned off the Sample Email to Forward AR and just copied that same content into one of the other AR templates where its possible to adjust the timing :-) Thanks for the question! And thanks Nancy for correcting me!
