Event News Feed - new messages

Options

We have enabled and configured a news feed tied to our current TeamRaiser event. Admins such as myself also have permission to post to all news feeds. However, I'm not seeing a way within TR, the Participant Center, or the News Feed sections to actually post new messages to the news feed. The only documentation I've found so far discusses how to set up and edit a news feed--which is not helpful.

Am I missing a link somewhere? Where can we create new messages for our event news feed?

  • I found the release summary for TR News Feeds in this old thread...  Pages 14/15 say there should be a "F2F_ADMIN_NEWS_FEEDS_ENABLED" site option and a "News Feeds" tab under Fundraising > TeamRaiser, next to the "Participant Centers" tab.

I don't see either on my end, so I'm guessing it's one of those things you need to contact support to have turned on.  I would just hop on the live chat at support.convio.com and ask them to take a look.

We do have a News Feed tab enabled, and I think I've set everything up as needed. The feed itself shows up in our TR Participant Center just fine, too. I'm just not finding anywhere to actually compose new messages to go into the feed. I'll give support a try, though, to see if maybe something does still need to be enabled or configured.

Check pages 15-21 in this PDF, then...  It looks like each "News Feed" is actually the message itself.

Interesting. I had wondered if that was the case, but the name "news feed" suggests to me that it's one feed to contain multiple messages, so I thought I must be missing something else. I'll try creating another 'feed' and adding it to our Parcitipant Center; see how it goes.

And so it is! Posted a new "feed" today, and it appears in the Participant Center as a new message. Odd choice of wording of these things, I think, but at least it works.
