Wondering how you might be using segmentation with your TeamRaiser data?

Options

Segmentation is new for me and I was wondering in what ways anyone might be using it to better undertsand and communicate with their Participant Fundraisers?

Any and all replies are welcome.

Thanks,

Mark Daley

  • TeamRaiser does a lot of segmentation for you. Combine them for even more interesting segments.

For instance, during recruitment you might email 2012 team captains and supress current 2013 captains. Now you have a way to email lapsed team captains to get them to reconstitute their teams.

My TeamRaiser event coordinators have been asking for me to build several segments for them so they can crack the whip during fundraising.

    • Everyone currently under $100 in fundraising
    • Everyone currently under $200 in fundraising
    • Last month and more than $100 under goal

There is really no end to what you might do.

I believe that donors that give multiple times are good candidates for recruitment. So make a group of donors from 2012 that gave more than twice, and shoot them a 'you really gave, now take it to the next level and join' email. (Help them up the donor ladder!)

Or you could make a list of the top three teams and send an email encouraging competition. "The Top Team's members get iPods, and it could be Team Daley!"

    Hi Brian,

How are you building your segment groups?

    Thanks

    Hi Brian,

How are you building your segment groups?

    Thanks

Are you referring to those 'yet to earn' groups? I actually have to do the segments this morning, so I can give you a blow by blow.

    1) Go to Data Management - Tasks - Task List tab.

    2) Click Create a New Task

    3) Select TeamRaiser Participants

    4) Now you get a fairly lengthy options screen, which offers several ways to segment.

    5) Name you new task Event Name - Under 100 in Fundraising - 07/01/2013

    6) Choose your filtering. I choose a specific Event, and only the Adult Participation Types, but the key for this segment is:

Select contacts based on dollar amount raised?

Dollars raised less than (whole dollars): 100

    7) Click Save

    8) Now find you new task in the Task List and click Run. This will set the task for execution, which builds the group.

    9) Go to Constituent 360 > Groups > Task Results and find your new group, which has the same name as your task.

Note: You can have this group rebuild periodically if you Activate as well as Run the task.

    Thanks Brian,

That's exactly what I did, my segments are:

    $0 fundraising

    $1- $499

    $500+

I created tasks for these, except I am having trouble segmenting participants with $0 fundraising (anyone registered but haven't starting fundraising yet) any ideas?

In the dollar amount (lesser or greater) I put 0, but it isn't reading it as $0, just a blank dollar amount.

    Thanks!!

I think I figured it out, I didn't uncheck the Registration Fees, so it used the fees as donation amounts.
