Tracking Interactions Vs. General Correspondence

Options

Hello, We are curious to learn how our peers are distinguishing between Interactions vs. General Correspondence and the deciding factors that determine which section you enter the contact in.

In addition, there is concern that if a contact point is not in interactions, that it will be missed by the prospect manager or fundraisers. We have created a view to General Correspondence in a tab next to interactions, but would like to see if anyone has found a creative solution to present all contact to PMs in a meaningful way.

  • @Jennifer Quinn
We use General Correspondence to track non-solicitation mass mailings and emails (invitations, annual reports, etc.). We use interactions to track personal, small mailings and emails (birthday cards, personally sent invitations to small gatherings, etc.).

We created a custom constituent summary tab with an SSRS report to show a summary of the most important constituent data including the X most recent interactions, general correspondence, marketing efforts, revenue, etc. as a single view for our more casual CRM users (leadership, etc.), but found our prospect managers also heavily use this tab as a snapshot of important and recent constituent activity without having to do all the clicking between tabs to see this info.

  • @Jennifer Borri - Thank you so much for the prompt reply! Would you be willing to share a view of what that looks like? If that is possible, my email is Jennifer_Quinn@Brown.edu. Thanks again!
