Failed transaction report

Is there a way to run a report or query which gives us a list of credit card transactions that have failed?

  • You can create a ReportWriter Transaction Details Report and filter it to only show Declines (and also filter it to the specific donation campaign a TR belongs to, if that's what you were looking for.)

     

    1. go to Data Management > Reports > Report Writer > Create a New Report
    2. select Transactions from the dropdown, then select Transaction Details and click Next
    3. select the desired columns, sort order, etc
    4. when you get to the Configure Filters step:
      1. edit the Transaction Purpose, select Decline, and click Save this filter  (You may also want to select Credit, since I'm not 100% sure if ACH late returns show as declines or refunds...)
      2. edit the Creation Date, select All Dates, and click Save this filter
      3. click Create a Filter
      4. in the top dropdown, select Donation Campaign
      5. in the second dropdown, select Campaign ID
      6. next to the second dropdown, click the "more..." link, check off the desired campaign in the pop-up's list, and click apply
      7. click Add this filter
    5. click Next
    6. identify/run the report

    Ahhhh!!! There is a filter! It was the default "Purpose" one. That's why I couldn't find another filter to use. Learn something new every day!
