Development Associate

New York, NY, US

Salary Range:$53,000.00 To 56,000.00 Annually

Division - Department: Development

Classification: Non-Union – FT - 40 Hours Per Week - Non-Exempt

Reports to: Director of Donor Engagement and Special Events

JOB PURPOSE: The Development Associate provides administrative support to the Development Department, completing routine tasks as well as special projects and assignments. The Associate helps maintain the donor database, drive donor prospecting and soliciting, and conducts financial reporting and reconciliations with the finance team. This role works closely with the individual giving area to support the needs related to major gifts and special events.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

Development Support (30%)

  • Provide administrative support to the Development team, including preparing mailings, recording and processing team finances and credit card receipts, answering phones, processing mail, and maintaining accurate file-keeping in both hard copy and on the server
  • Serve as primary point of contact for development related inquiries from internal and external constituents

Donor Prospect and Research (25%)

  • Work with the Chief Development Officer to conduct prospect research on targeted individual donors using

Wealth Engine software

  • Track prospected individual donors in Raiser’s Edge and provide monthly progress reports
  • Create call sheets for CEO donor outreach

Database Management (15%)

  • Produce financial reporting for the team
  • Compile data and run reports for daily and monthly agency-wide reporting
  • Build and maintain analytical reports, queries, and exports

Event Support (20%)

Act as a key player in supporting the Educational Alliance annual gala, including all gift entry and event registration organization in Raiser’s Edge

  • Track outreach of Gala attendees and donors
  • Assure that relationship management information in the donor database is up to date and accurate
  • Serve as leader to the team of volunteers that assist in registration of guests as they arrive at the Gala
  • Organize and coordinate materials and other details throughout the Gala planning and execution process
  • Provide administrative support for other smaller events throughout the year

Other (10%)

  • Attend staff meetings and trainings as required
  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years of related professional work experience
  • Proficiency with Raiser’s Edge required
  • Outstanding written and oral communications skills
  • Team player and a passion to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Capable of processing and organizing large amounts of information quickly
  • Excellent customer service skills handling matters in courteous, friendly and timely manner
  • Ability to maintain donor confidentiality
  • Self-motivated, highly efficient, strong attention to details
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to work in high pressure environment
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office (word, excel, outlook)
  • Able to work a flexible schedule as needed (evenings and weekends)
