How to Walk Someone through the Front End

Options

Can someone direct me to where I would learn about how to answer event participant questions on the front end?

I am a contact for the YWCA Walk a Mile In Her Shoes (www.walkamile.ca) and I get phone calls that I need to be on the front end and not the back end in order to answer. Such as “I was a team captain last year. I logged in but could not figure out how to reform my team. Do I have to register as a participant in this year’s first and then form the team or do I begin by forming the team, and how?” ….

Right now I feel like there is no way for me to walk this person through the steps they need to take on the front end of the website. Please help and let me know if you need clarity on my question.

    Hayley,

We just did a webinar last month on creating a "fundraising tips" page that may help you. It shows you how to insert a tips page on a TR custom page. I think this is what you need. I would use a TR custom page to list all sorts of common questions. Or you can even use a Pagebuilder page. The key is going through a number of the pre-regstration FAQs that you get and provide responses there. Unfortunately we don't have anything already built out that you can simply copy and paste into a page for you to use to share this kind of info. This kind of info really varies by organization. For instance, some orgs do not link current events to past events. If they don't do this then someone returning for this even cannot connect to their participation record for a previous event. So you have to make sure this is configured.

Here is information in the HelpCenter that will help you make sure you have "returning teams" enabled: http://help.convio.net/site/PageServer?pagename=Admin_TeamRaiser_Edit_03EventOptions#advanced_returning

If this option is set, then a person can register for the new new event and during the registration claim a previous team and bring them forward.

Let me see if I can get someone with more TR experience to chime in here. I'll tell them you are needing this quickly.

  • The best way to be a resource to your fundraisers is to be a participant yourself. Go through the registration process and obtain credentials so that you can log-in and see the user's experience from their perspective.
