Systems Analyst, Information Services - Detroit, MI

Under the direction of the Manager, Gift Administration and Information Services, the Systems Analyst is responsible for creating and generating reports, writing queries, data integrity, staff training, data entry and management, gift exporting/importing, and integration with external databases and systems. This position works closely with Major Gifts Officers, the Annual Giving team, senior Development Office staff and other HFHS staff in various departments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

Report Writing and Data Exports:
Maintain a reporting system to measure the fundraising activity of the Development Office. Assess needs and develop reports for use in analyzing mailings, donor acquisition and fundraising efforts for Development Office staff. This position is also responsible to managing the donor acknowledgement generation process and the tribute acknowledgement generation process.
Manage financial reconciliation processes such as the month-end close with Fund Accounting, the reconciliation of merchant services accounts associated with online transactions, and the Personal Philanthropy Account monthly reporting processes.
Data Imports and Data Entry
Manage import processes related to online fundraising transactions including the importing and processing of Luminate Online gifts.
Manage data uploads into philanthropic database from internal HFHS sources and data integration from external systems (i.e. PeopleSoft, ResearchPoint, Wealth Engine, NCOA etc).
Monitor and maintain data integrity for Development Office database. This position works with others on the Gift Administration and Information Services team to efficiently enter, manage and monitor the integrity of gift and constituent information. This position is also responsible for the management of fund, appeal, and event information in the Raiser’s Edge database.
Oversee Marketing/Events team’s interactions with Raiser’s Edge and assist with event record entry, events related troubleshooting, and event related pledge entry.
Software and Application Management
Supports and maintains application systems installed for the Development Office acting as a liaison between technical support and end users.
Responsible for training Development Office and Events department personnel on the functionality of the donor database and reporting systems through in-person and written instructions. Interacts with front-end users and management on the appropriate utilization of the system to achieve correct results.
Assists with the design, coding, testing and implementation of application software programs. Assists in the installation of vendor upgrades, testing code and interfaces as needed.
Web site maintenance:
Assist with the management of the Development Office web-site presence, both Internet and Intranet. Monitor sites for accurate and current content. Manage fundraising event websites using Blackbaud Net Community software, Luminate Online and other web platforms.
Research Activities:
Assist the Research team with transferring data between Raiser’s Edge, the HFHS Enterprise Data Warehouse, Research Point, Wealth Engine and other databases.
EFFECTS AND RESULTS:
The effect of this position is to significantly help enhance the fundraising effort of the Development Office. A successful data management effort will help the Development Office achieve its overall goals by providing Development Office staff access to the relevant, accurate and timely information related to the donor’s philanthropic giving history, biographical information, gift capacity, inclination and relationship to Henry Ford Health System. A successful data management program will ultimately help Henry Ford Health System improve patient care, research and education by providing the information necessary to secure critical philanthropic support for top priority programs and projects throughout the System.
This is a critical position in a comprehensive fundraising program. Accurate and well managed data will help identify new opportunities for increased philanthropic funds and help increase the number of donors that will ultimately benefit the patient care, medical research and education mission of HFHS.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma required. A bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or three or more years of related experience with a fundraising database such as Raiser’s Edge is preferred. Knowledge and understanding of the query, export and mail merge functionality of Raiser’s Edge is strongly preferred. Knowledge of Microsoft Access, Excel and Word is desirable. Must have excellent organizational skills, strong written and verbal communication skills and be guided by organizational mission and the desire to raise money in the context of the mission.

JOB KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Works well with senior fundraising staff and other key employees. Must possess strong computer skills and database management. Must also possess strong interpersonal skills and writing skills. Proficiency in appropriate management of confidential information is essential.
