Position Summary:

The Database Manager is a key member of the Development team that is focused on growing and diversifying the organization’s revenue base, expanding networks, and deepening relationships with multi-sector donors and supporters. The Database Manager serves as the key point of contact and team expert on all database-related matters, including managing any database updates and special projects, researching and implementing database best practices, and designing and pulling reports that inform fundraising strategy. The Database Manager will work closely with the Director of Individual Giving & Major Gifts and the Senior Manager, Donor Stewardship to define and implement a moves management system in Raisers Edge. The position reports to the Director, Individual Giving & Major Gifts, and will work in tandem with staff and board members to strengthen and grow Northern Virginia Family Service’s development efforts.

Database Administration

  • Manage database updates and clean-up projects as defined.
  • Research and implement RE NXT best practices, efficiencies and innovations to assist in tracking moves management (appropriate use of action tracks, tags, opportunities, etc.).
  • Create and work with Development Assistant to execute on RE related logistics for events registration.

Data Reports and Analysis

  • Design, pull and analyze fundraising reports.
  • Create user-friendly dashboards tracking the performance of annual fund, campaign and other fundraising initiatives through Raiser’s Edge.
  • Pull mailing and other lists as needed.

Donor Engagement

  • Research donors as assigned.
  • Elevate pending donor actions, donors without primary relationship managers and other reports for regular moves management discussions.
  • Serve as donor POC for questions regarding gift logistics, constituent records, receipts, etc.

Other:

  • Participate in regular supervision with supervisor and provide regular updates.
  • Remain current on knowledge of standards and other program-related information.
  • Enter data for record keeping and reporting to meet relevant guidelines.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • May supervise, train, support, and/or collaborate with volunteer(s) and/or intern(s)

Qualification Requirements: An individual may obtain skills through a variety of professional, personal, educational, and volunteer experiences. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required to perform essential job duties.

  • Proficiency with pulling reports and analyzing data from Raisers Edge or another fundraising database
  • Strong project management, analytical, relationship building and communication skills
  • Ability to take initiative and trouble-shoot operational solutions when necessary
  • Outcome-oriented and able to stick to fixed deadlines
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and juggle several projects at once
  • Oral and written fluency in English; additional language skills always welcome
  • Proficiency in usage of basic technological tools including laptops/computers, email, phones, and internet; working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Blackbaud certification a plus; if not certified, must be able and willing to obtain certification (paid for by NVFS)
