Through our Ministry on the River, International Seafarers’ Center, Center for Maritime Education, and Center for Mariner Advocacy, SCI promotes the safety, dignity, and improved working environment for those serving in North American and international maritime communities through pastoral care, training, advocacy, and thought leadership.

The Development Associate will report to the Director of Development and is responsible for maintaining SCI’s Raisers Edge NXT database, conducting mailings, tracking donations, and supporting the Institute’s headquarters team.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Maintains the Raisers’ Edge NXT database to ensure accuracy and integrity of records, reports, and queries.
• Receives, batches, tracks and acknowledges all charitable donations in a timely manner.
• Identifies and creates donor profiles for projects such as special events, annual fund drive, major gifts, and campaigns.
• Researches companies and contacts, updates existing donor records, and provides insight and relevant information on the database.
• Updates contact information for constituent and donor records; ensures records are updated and available as mailing lists on an ongoing and as-needed basis.
• Creates and saves queries and exports targeted mailing lists for direct mail, newsletters, email blasts, and other communications.
• Analyzes direct mail responses and creates reports on donor trends.
• Responds to donor inquiries regarding contributions and giving history.
• Updates and maintains trustee records.

Qualifications:
• 1 to 3 years’ experience with non-profit databases; proficiency with Blackbaud RE NXT.
• Excellent analytical and oral/written communications skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to manage confidential information, multiple priorities and competing deadlines.
• Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy of reporting.
• Bachelor’s degree.

This is a full-time, remote position. The salary offered for candidates in New York and the New York Metropolitan Area is from $60,000 to $80,000. Note: the salary offered may vary depending on skills, experience, job-related knowledge and location.
