Changing a user name without adding email address

Is there a way to change a user name without having to add an email address?  Mom registered herself, husband and child and just had to enter one email address, her's.  The system created a generic username for both husband and child and I want to change it to one that she can remember but the system asks for a new email address.  Is this possible to do this without having to create a new email address for him.

I'd just create some sort of variation of the mom's email. It doesn't have to be a working email. Something like momemail+"son"@email.com.
