McLean School (mcleanschool.org), a K-12 co-educational independent school in Potomac, Maryland, seeks applicants for a School Database Manager and Registrar to begin July 1. McLean School has for over sixty-five years been helping bright students realize their full potential by providing a comprehensive college preparatory program that emphasizes small classes and differentiated instruction. Reporting to the Director of Technology Innovation, the School Database Manager and Registrar oversees the School’s current and archived student records, student information and learning management systems, internal testing processes, and all related student records.

Major Functions and Responsibilities

• Serve as the School’s Registrar by managing student records and corresponding data including demographic information, academic performance, and yearly student scheduling.
• Develop and ensure the school follows best practices for managing student records.
• Configure and manage the School’s Student Information System (SIS) and Learning Management System (LMS) and ensure that the systems’ capabilities are fully utilized. Examine student, teacher, and parent use of the SIS/LMS.
• Provide support and suggest training to parents, teachers, and students, as needed, for the improved use of the LMS and SIS to support teaching and learning.
• Oversee integrations and data sharing among all of the School’s student-related databases (including Blackbaud, Magnus, Scoir, Mailchimp, Schoolpass, and Visitu) to leverage available technology, eliminate duplicate efforts, and provide a better experience for our databases’ end-users.
• Implement Blackbaud underused modules to improve teacher, parent, and student facing experiences.
• Support the student and parent onboarding process with streamlined data processes.
• Respond to Lower, Middle, and Upper Schools’ goals for assessment by ensuring accurate and timely progress reports, report cards, and transcripts and corresponding grading plans that better address the particular needs of each division.
• Plan, coordinate, and oversee all aspects of our testing programs and processes, including scheduling, arranging test proctors, overseeing the testing processes, and keeping accurate records.
• Develop and oversee the student class enrollment process, including maintenance of an up-to-date Course Catalog, diploma requirements, course prerequisites, scheduling of classes, classroom and facility assignments, as well as resolving and harmonizing cross-divisional conflicts.
• Establish and oversee implementation of accurate student daily attendance.
• Analyze student performance and progress to identify important trends and insights.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Previous experience in school SIS systems, Blackbaud preferred
• Highly Proficient within Google Suite applications and Microsoft Excel
• Knowledge of working with databases required
• Experience working in a School a plus
• Strong verbal and written communications skills
• Ability to balance multiple priorities and work with various constituencies; including students, parents, teachers, and administrators
