Milestone questions - manually adding a badge and social sharing

Options

Two questions regarding milestones -

1) I know that the milestones are not retroactive.  However, if a page owner happens to come across the badges and wants one on their page – is there a way to manually add one to a specific page?

In our ongoing DIY campaign we have to just select a time to activate the badges.  We have a current participant that has raised several thousand dollars in recent weeks and in those rare cases if they ask about the badges I want to be prepared with an answer.

2) Can badges be shared socially - as in if a badge is awarded - can they click a button and have a message that says, "I just achieved Champion's Club"?  I know there are always ways to do this manually but just wondering if there are any widgets that could be incorporated?

Thank you!

    Hi Stacey,

Let me see if I can answer your questions...

In our Milestones and Badges kit the display of that scroll is actually rendered in the pagewrapper. And the badges are awarded by actions that put people in groups at times. So you could change the wrapper to include that scroll and it would appear on existing personal pages. And with those badges that are rendered based on being in a group, you could manually add a participant to a group. Now some of the badges are triggered by TeamRaiser internal fields like number of emails sent, however, you can change the code in the kit so instead of using the TR field it can be a group ID assignment. You can then use the TeamRaiser Tasks to create a recurring task that puts people into groups based on their TR activity. The Task will create the group and for those who have past that milestone you can simply add them to the group manually. It's definitely more work but it's the only solution I can think of if you want to have any kind of retro capability.

You could techinically setup Gigya share capabilities to share an achievement. In the Pagebuilder that houses all of your badges you could configure the badge so that when it's clicked it would fire up Gigya and they could share info about that specific badge and the achievement it's for. But you wouldn't want this Badge display to be the one that is on their Personal Page. You'd want to create one with Gigya share configured to render on a personal page and another with Gigya share configured that you'd render in their Participant Center.

If you have emails going out for every badge/milestone, you could even configure a share in that email so they can tweet or share on Facebook their achievement.

I hope this isn't too confusing.

    Kent,

Thank you so much!  Most of this makes sense and some of it is just slightly over my head.  However, I have colleagues that are more well versed with CONVIO so I think we are good to go.

    Thank you again!

Well definitely post back if you have any issues/questions. I'll get an email alert when you post and will try to help you quickly.
