Ducks Unlimited, Inc., the continent’s leader in waterfowl and wetlands conservation, seeks a National Director of Corporate & Foundation Partnerships to provide strategic direction and leadership for corporate and foundation funding for the organization with a focus on philanthropy, sustainability, advertising, corporate sponsorships and licensing.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

  • Direct and enhance all aspects of an integrated corporate and foundation partnership program to identify, build relationships with and seek funding from organizational partners.
  • Understand the interrelated nature of these four business streams and create cross-team synergies to move DU forward.
  • Possess knowledge of the corporate and foundation philanthropy landscape as well as the business case for partnering with Ducks Unlimited through purchased options such as fee-for-service opportunities, corporate sponsorships, licensing and advertising.
  • Lead DU’s sustainability related fundraising efforts and maximize opportunities to leverage sustainability outcomes for the furtherment of the organization’s mission.
  • Be familiar with the Science Based Targets Initiative, Volumetric Benefits Accounting, carbon protocols and other validation methods for sharing our sustainability platform with corporate and foundation partners.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with conservation, communications and the executive leadership team to further the development program and the mission of DU.
  • Partner with the Chief and other National Directors to implement the strategic priorities of the development program.
  • Coordinate with the National Director of Development to build cross-team relationships to generate leads and secure financial support from organizations.
  • Maintain a personal portfolio of leadership prospects to cultivate, solicit and steward.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of special and comprehensive fundraising campaigns.
  • Build and maintain relationships with senior volunteer leaders to further the organization’s priorities.
  • Serve as member of the development management and leadership prospect management teams.
  • Oversee the recruitment, onboarding/training, coaching, performance and retention of a cohesive team of approximately 15 people.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience and Education: Applicants must have at minimum a four-year degree from an accredited college or university. The successful candidate will have ten years of development/corporate and foundation relation experience which includes at least five years in a management role. Experience with comprehensive fundraising campaigns, relationships with and a working knowledge of the organization’s philanthropic and organizational partnership community, a detail-oriented and deadline-driven approach; budget and analytical analysis experience, and an interest in outdoor conservation activities are also desired.

Communication Skills: Superb communication, writing, and presentation skills and ability to persuasively convey the mission of DU.

Technological Proficiency: Computer literacy with a proficiency in the Microsoft Office products to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Power BI; experience with complex customer relationship management software, with a preference for Blackbaud CRM.

Interpersonal Skills: Proven success in building strong performing teams, maintaining long-term relationships with organizational constituents and in soliciting and securing complex gifts, grants and contracts.

Reporting and Location: This position reports to the Chief Development Officer and is based at the National Headquarters in Memphis, Tennessee. Candidates must be willing to work hours that extend outside of the typical workday and workweek throughout the year. Significant overnight travel is required.
