Application Services Administrator

The Application Services Administrator will evaluate Cranbrook’s business process requirements and identify application solutions. They are responsible for managing the application lifecycle, including planning, developing, testing, deploying, maintaining, and retiring applications. Additional responsibilities include providing system-related technical support and problem resolution by reviewing issues and providing relevant solutions. They will collaborate with other departments to ensure that all staff members are up to date on new products or changes to existing products or services.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform project management and participate on project teams responsible for application software implementation and upgrades; determine project scope and staff resources required to complete projects; prepare project work plans and timelines.
  • Monitor project objectives and report project progress to management. Work closely with Cranbrook Educational Community (CEC) staff, vendors, and technical staff to ensure timely and efficient completion of projects.
  • Ensure that new systems and changes are properly tested and validated.
  • Establish data distribution policies and procedures for applications spread across the CEC.
  • Conduct workflow analysis, business process reviews and create functional specifications.
  • Ensure system data integrity and application compatibility across the CEC.
  • Coordinate analysis and resolve issues on all system upgrades and changes.
  • Manage outside vendors and contractors to ensure performance expectations are met.
  • Manage projects from start to finish, including assigning tasks, monitoring deadlines, and evaluating the project’s success.
  • Implement system changes and administer access to systems and information utilizing approved information technology security policies, standards and guidelines.
  • May participate in audits and perform testing for disaster recovery process, ensuring a secure processing environment that protects the integrity and availability of information.
  • Maintain attendance, punctuality, professional appearance, and performance standards set forth in Cranbrook’s employee handbook.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business, Computer Science, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Experience with enterprise resource planning and three years of experience equivalent to an IT project coordinator.
  • Experience evaluating and designing new systems and applying them to new or existing business processes.
  • Planning innovative, efficient, and productive application services infrastructure to facilitate data transactions.
  • Knowledge of databases and data management principles and practices.
  • Sound understanding of application development life cycles.
  • Very strong customers service orientation as well as comfortable collaborating with teams from other departments to solve problems.
  • Ability to manage enterprise-wide, complex projects with sound judgment and excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Capacity to develop and manage automated business systems.
  • Knowledge of application and software system design and implementation principles and practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and project management principles.
  • Highly effective written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills. Ability to communicate complex information clearly to users with varying technical understanding.
  • Leadership skills necessary to plan and coordinate project activities, resources, and personnel.
  • Experience with information systems and application troubleshooting methods.
  • A valid Michigan driver’s license with satisfactory driving record is required.
