As a Business Data Analyst for Strategic Marketing and Engagement with VCU's Office of Development and Alumni Relations, you will be responsible for the setup and configuration of communications lists, segments and constituent audience selections in the CRM. This includes working with lists and segments for direct mail, email, digital ads and other marketing channels. As a member of the Advancement Solutions team, the analyst works with Strategic Marketing and Engagement and Alumni Relations, along with other partners to ensure accuracy of queries and adherence to constituents’ preferences. The analyst develops advanced segmenting and selections using query tools. A strong understanding of both CRM data elements as well as marketing strategies is needed to help support the marketing team in building effective marketing campaign data from the CRM with the goal of maximizing constituent lifetime value, engagement and affinity for the organization.


Your tools will be the ad hoc “drag and drop” interface of Blackbaud CRM initially, working within our BBCRM environment to provision data from the CRM. You will develop succinct, timely SQL code that is logical and optimizes programming resources and meets project and user requirements. You will play a leading role in streamlining and automating marketing processes and enhancing reporting. You will become an expert in CRM marketing data structure and querying. A passion for learning new technology is critical to helping develop the next phase of our program.
