Development Assistant (part-time) - Boston Latin School Association, Boston, MA

The Boston Latin School Association (BLSA) seeks a new member for its collaborative and diverse team whose mission is to raise funds to support the nation’s oldest public school and to create community among its constituents. Candidates from diverse backgrounds who value urban public education and who are motivated by mission-driven work that benefits youth are encouraged to apply.

The Development Assistant role is hourly and part-time, 20-24 hours a week. The ideal candidate has the flexibility to work fewer or additional hours depending on seasonality of work related to events or other activities. After an initial in-office training, the role offers a hybrid work schedule with generally 60% of hours in the office working with colleagues.

Duties and Responsibilities

Stewardship and Events

  • Maintain up-to-date event records and process all event registrations that arrive via our website, phone, and mail.
  • Serve as staff liaison to young alumni reunion committees and our alumni awards committee.
  • Prepare event name tags and registrations lists.
  • Provide in-person support at events.
  • Assist with the production of mailings.

Operations Support

  • Provide administrative support to the BLSA Board of Trustees by preparing meeting materials, scheduling, etc.
  • Provide superior customer service to constituents with timely response via general e-mail account and phone lines.
  • Maintain office supplies and equipment.
  • Develop expertise with Raiser’s Edge and assist in gift processing, reporting, prospect tracking, event management, and all related aspects of fundraising.
  • Assist with other administrative tasks as requested.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Proactive and willing to show initiative and ask questions
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Comfort doing outreach and spending time on phone
  • Prior donor or customer service experience preferred
  • Prior experience in Raiser’s Edge or other donor management software preferred
  • Proficiency with MS Office required
  • Comfort working in an office environment with an ability to sit for extended periods of time
