The Director of Marketing and Communications is responsible for leading, developing, and implementing the School’s full range of marketing and communications efforts. The Director will be a self-starter who will work closely with members of the School’s administration to ensure that all communications and events are consistent with its brand and to bring awareness of the School to prospective families.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the creation and publication of all printed and online communications, including newsletters, brochures, advertisements, direct mail, and promotional materials. Produce communications and materials for key school events and programs.
  • Build and implement a comprehensive annual strategic marketing and communications plan.
  • Oversee messaging and branding consistency throughout the school, including parent communications, the School’s website, email, social media, and print.
  • Collect and review data from media channels including the website, emails, and social media in order to continually refine communications strategy and support data driven decision making.
  • Partner with the Director of Admissions to develop and execute a marketing strategy to engage prospective families, increase student applications, and support student recruitment.
  • Partner with the Director of Development to design donor communications, solicitations, and engagement opportunities to promote fundraising revenue.
  • Oversee the work of graphic designers, print vendors and other external partners in the production of materials.
  • Cultivate relationships with local media, serve as a liaison for all media outlets, and monitor media coverage including social media.
  • Conceive and produce marketing videos (with external videographer) for use in social media, website, and admissions events.
  • Develop and implement an advertising and social media plan that supports the School’s recruitment, retention, alumni, and development efforts.
  • Write and edit press releases, letters, articles, and stories that promote DKJA to the community.
  • Manage the marketing budget, and make informed decisions using data analytics.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in English, journalism, communications, or marketing preferred
  • Minimum of 8-10 years related professional experience in marketing and/or communications
  • Exceptional written, editing, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work under deadline pressure and to handle several projects simultaneously
  • A fine-tuned attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in the community
  • Working knowledge of desktop publishing applications and Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Ideally, knowledge of and experience working in Jewish day schools and/or independent schools and/or the Jewish community
