ABOUT LITTLE FLOWER: Little Flower Children and Family Services of New York is a not-for-profit charity serving children, families, and individuals with developmental disabilities across New York City and Long Island. A dedicated staff of more than 600 provides caring and professional services to nearly 2,000 people each year. Little Flower is nationally accredited by Social Current (the Council on Accreditation).

FUNDING: The consolidated organization has an annual operating budget of approximately $70 million (Little Flower approximately $54 million, and St. John’s approximately $15.5 million). Primary sources include public program/service revenue, grants, contributions, fundraising and special events, and other income.

THE OPPORTUNITY: The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will lead and direct all aspects of financial management as well as facilities, HR, and IT for a large, multiservice agency. A highly visible role, the CFO is a member of the most senior leadership of the agency and will work in partnership with the CEO, COO, and Chief Program Officer. The CFO will also staff and work closely with the Audit and Finance Committees of the Board of Directors.

The CFO reports to the President & CEO, Corinne Hammons, and will lead a team of 50+ employees and consultants in finance, IT, HR, and facilities. The CFO will also manage relationships with bankers and other financial institutions, auditors, and a broad range of funding/regulatory agencies.

This is an opportunity for an experienced, innovative, forward-thinking, customer-oriented financial leader to join a well-respected, expanding organization with a passionate, committed staff and board. The CFO will choose whether to be based in Brooklyn or Wading River and will have a hybrid in-person/remote schedule with the majority of time spent in the office. The base salary is $225K+.

IDEAL Qualifications:

• An appreciation for and interest in the Little Flower mission and culture.
• Significant financial leadership experience, particularly in a large, complex, diverse not-for-profit organization.
• Experience with both public and private funding is critical, ideally in an IDD, human service, government, or complex healthcare setting under managed care.
• Knowledge of and relationships with regulatory and funding agencies at the local, state, and national level in education, foster care, child welfare, and intellectual/developmental disabilities.
• Excellent analytical and accounting skills.
• Desire to work in a dynamic environment, with skills in change management and business process design.
• Credibility to serve as a trusted advisor institution wide, including the CEO and Board.
• An effective communicator at all levels, with strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong commitment to customer service and the highest commitment to professionalism and integrity.
• Strategic ability needed to assess and institute new lines of business and/or manage mergers and acquisitions, where appropriate.
• Experience working effectively with a board of directors.
• Knowledgeable about maximizing technology and current practices.
• Commitment to building and fostering a diverse team.
• Able and willing to translate financial information and best practices to non-financial staff at all levels.
• A warm, engaging, accessible style.
• Bachelor’s degree is required; MBA and/or CPA is strongly preferred.
