SUMMARY:

AltaSea at the Port of Los Angeles is seeking a Database and Research Manager who will directly report the Director of Advancement Services. The Database and Research Manager will be responsible for supporting the Advancement team’s fundraising efforts including working with the Board of Trustees and providing organizational and administrative assistance to senior management. This is an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented, self-starter with exceptionally strong analytical and organizational skills to be an important part of the AltaSea advancement team.

Database Management

  • Create and maintain current and accurate donor records in Raiser's Edge (SQL CRM database).
  • Organize, coordinate and maintain the integrity of supporting data on the organization’s shared drive (Sharepoint)
  • Assist with the implementation of data entry standards and best practices including leading regular data hygiene maintenance efforts.
  • Work with the Director of Advancement Services to identify and implement improvements, alternative ways of accomplishing tasks to become more effective and efficient.
  • Assist with data needs, ad-hoc reports or queries, and financial reports as requested.
  • Assists in developing written policies, procedures, and training materials for processing and data management.

Prospect Research

  • Research prospective and existing donors to capture and analyze wealth, capacity, and donor interest areas by utilizing Internet and subscription research databases and resources
  • Analyze, organize, and disseminate actionable information into an easily digestible format that best suits the intended audience.
  • Synthesize research into organized reports to inform the appropriate outreach and communication approach and help prepare fundraisers to effectively engage with current and prospective donor partners.
  • Maintain guidelines and policies for accurate and ethical management of donor and prospect information

PRIMARY INTERACTIONS:

  • Frequent contact with AltaSea colleagues
  • May have periodic interaction with AltaSea Trustees, senior staff and other staff

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Proactive and self-directed with strong problem-solving ability.
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Sharp attention to detail.
  • Ability to learn quickly, work on multiple projects, prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Proficient in using standard office equipment, MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and Adobe
  • Possess strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 1-2 year of office experience preferred.
  • Raiser’s Edge or other CRM experience strongly preferred.
  • Non-profit development experience a plus.
  • An understanding of and strong interest in the AltaSea mission.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Work may be performed at the AltaSea campus in San Pedro, CA or virtually.
  • Subject to repetitive motion in typing on a computer keyboard and detailed vision in viewing computer monitor
  • The position may involve working occasional evenings and weekends.
