Grants versus Gifts

Hi all,

How does everyone record received grants? Historically, we have entered it on the gifts tab with an appeal “grant proposal.” We track the grants on the action tab and run reports based on pending, funded, denied. Is there a better way? Maybe a gift attribute? I have searched, but can't seem to find any feedback. I'm less concerned with how to use opportunities to track the lifecycle of a grant and more so on the actual receipt of the payment.

  • We typically know of the grants ahead of time so we enter them as pledges and then once the donations come in they are processed as payment on pledges in the gift tab/via batch entry.
