Random Samplings in Queries

We're in Blackbaud hosted and though I've noticed this for a while I finally figured I'd ask: does anyone know why the all of the query “output limits” are greyed out in the Query Options of database view?

Anyone have any other suggestions for creating a random sampling of records from RE other than kicking out the whole population, running a randomizer, and then pulling those records back into RE?

Hi Tom,

I'm not exactly sure what you're seeing. Are you saying that, after you have selected Apply output limits, the options for Random sampling and Limit to top rows are still grey?

Ha! Just hearing that is WAS working for someone else caused me to go back and look over my steps… turns out my query was dynamic instead of static. The setting for “Apply Output Limits” only works with static queries… oops! Problem solved… ?
