KPI's

Options

Curious as to what key performance indicator's are tracked by other non-profits. Do you track both cost to raise a dollar overall as well as fundraising ROI? Was a discussion at a recent meeting about tracking cost to raise a dollar to include all overhead costs but also track fundraising ROI that just includes fundraising costs. Thanks for any information you are able to provide.

  • We include board participation as part of our KPIs. It's important that they do more than attend meetings though meeting attendance is part of the reporting. We look at event attendance, donations and any involvement in meeting with prospects/donors.

  • We provide our board with our strategic fundraising goals quarterly, tracking on dollars raised towards the goals. We report on appeals and events with fundraising ROI, not including overhead costs. In my past, I have provided quarterly reporting on fundraising ROI with salaries and department expenses for an accurate picture of the cost to raise a dollar of our fundraising.
