duplicates made when responding to advocacy alerts or sending ecards

Options

I noticed today that when someone responds to an eAlert or sends an eCard, they are "re-entered" in Convio making a duplicate entry. Because of this, some who have been our constituents for quite some time are getting Welcome emails.

It happened to me when I sent my hotmail account a test eCard. Now I'm not allowed to merge or delete this extra entry because you can't merge/delete admin accounts. I also received both Welcome emails because of this.

Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?

  • hi Amanda,

I'll check to see if we have to add you to a group to get you permissions for the alumni section. I'll follow up on that.

Regarding the duplicates from action alerts, one thing that can help mitigate this problem is to give an autologin link in the emails to the action alerts so that when a user gets the email, and then clicks to take action, they'll be logged in before taking action. I've seen some of the action alert emails you've been sending out and it seems like you've included autologin for some if not for all of those action alert links.

for users who are visiting the alert and then filling out the form, if they're putting in an email address that is already in the system, then they should be able to complete the alert and the system should not create a new user account. If the user puts in a new email address that is not already in C360 then that would create a new record for that contact.

Do you mean that your getting duplicates with the exact same email address that's already in the system? Let me know and I can do some more investigation.

    Best,

    Adam
