Does the new Regulations.gov site (http://www.regulations.gov) affect Convio's deliverability through that webform?

  • Have you heard anything? We, too, are curious about this and using the new regulations.gov site.

Not yet. We will be attempting our first Regulations.gov alert as soon as we migrate from GetActive, hopefully in the next week or so, and I'll report back!

Actually, I just heard from another group that recently migrated. The new Regulations.gov redesign DID impact Convio's deliverability. Here is Convio's official response (dated 8/14/09):

Please be advised that automated submission of constituent communications to regulations.gov has recently been broken as a result of significant changes in how the regulations.gov website publishes webforms and accepts comments.

As an immediate work around, we recommend that you revise your campaign communications to direct constituents to visit the relevant regulations.gov URL directly to submit comment. Our engineering team is currently working on a software patch that will enable clients to direct constituents to regulations.gov via Convio’s click-through-to-submit functionality, but this functionality will not be available until testing is complete. This is a high priority fix and it will be released as soon as possible.

The problem is due to a redesign of the regulations.gov site that now prevents automated submissions to its forms. The change was introduced to prevent spambots from posting garbage to regulatory forms, but it has inadvertently prevent automated submissions from legitimate sources using advocacy modules like Convio provides. Convio has communicated the problem to regulations.gov and we will be working with them to develop a better long-term solution that supports legitimate automated interactions with their forms.
