Can I add an element to encourage constituents to take action from their profile page?

Options

In GetActive the profile page included a list of what advocacy campaigns were available to take and a way for constituents to log other kinds of interactions with legislators. The same functionality does not exist in Convio but there are a few things you can do to provide some similar functionalities.

How to create a page where constituents can log an interaction with a legislator

  1. Create a survey
  2. In the survey, add a few questions that ask the necessary information, e.g.:
    • "Who did you talk to" -- Short Text Value (40 characters) question
    • "Was this through a phone call or a conversation, ... ?" -- Short Text Value (40 characters) question
    • "How did the conversation go?" -- Text Value question
  3. Set the autoresponder to "Do Not Send this Autoresponder".
  4. Publish the survey.
  5. Edit the published survey.
    1. Change the "Submit Survey Button Label" to something more appropriate like "Log Interaction".
  6. Set the "Survey Submitted Page" to "ConsProfileUser" (the profile page) so that constituent are directed back to the profile page after logging the interaction.
  7. Create a single component PageBuilder page that is reusable.
  8. Select "HTML Component" as the component.
  9. Click on the gear to insert a component.
  10. Select "Survey" then "Survey" again.
  11. Then select your newly created survey.
  12. Continue through the process to publish the page.

How to create a page that shows alerts that the constituent has not submitted

  1. Create a single component PageBuilder page that is reusable.
  2. Select "HTML Component" as the component.
    1. Click on the gear to insert a component.
    2. Select "Advocacy" then "Alert List"
  3. For "If the user has already taken action" select "Hide the alert".
      1. This page will be blank if your constituent has taken every active alert you have. As such, you may want to consider at the bottom of the page including a link that something like "No alerts listed? Go to some other page to do some other action!" where the second sentence is a link for the constituent to take some other action such as donating.
  4. Consider adding a link back to the constituent profile page at the bottom of this page.
  5. Continue through the process to publish the page.

How to create links to both of the above in the ConsProfileUser page

  1. Create a single component PageBuilder page that is reusable.
  2. Select "HTML Component" as the component.
    1. Create links to both of the above pages with wording that is appropriate, e.g.:
      • Need to log an interaction with a legislator?
      • Interested in seeing what other Acton Alerts are available?
    2. Continue through the process to publish the page.
  3. Go to "Setup" > "Standard Page Center".
  4. Find and "Customize" the "Constituent Profile (User Update)" page.
  5. Go through the steps configuring the page to your liking.
          1. On the fourth step, "Customize Page Footer", click on the gear to insert a component.

Select "Content", "Reusable Page", and then the page you just created, and then "Insert".
  6. Click on "Finish".
